Ingrid van der Wacht | WDW

key speaker of "Design makes the world turn round better" lecture

From my own company Factor-I (2001) I work as a connector, communicator and conceptor with a focus on co/design for people and planet.

Over the years I have initiated projects for the use of design as a driver for social innovation, economic growth and sustainable development. I have extensive experience in cross-sectorial partnerships between public authorities, industries, businesses and designers – and may be first and foremost the users - with a focus on new methodologies to co-design. I work since years for organisations driven by (Dutch) Design. Like for Dutch Design Foundation, the organizer of the Dutch Design Week, as their freelance international and public affairs manager. On this behalf I also work as chair of the membership committee for World Design Weeks.

I have developed and worked on various European projects. At this moment it is Food Heroes focusing on co-creation of solutions against food loss and waste in the beginning of the food chain.

As a member of the board of Dutch Institute of Food & Design I also work on the promotion of design around food with Dutch eating designer Marije Vogelzang, who founded the institute.

It is my belief that the creative power of design - when well managed and well understood - can help us solve problems the world faces today. To promote this, I often speak at national and international congresses about Dutch design for social and economic innovation in general and the developments and results in Brainport, the region of Eindhoven in particular. As a connector I also facilitate congresses, workshops and events. I received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Tilburg, studied French and marketing.
