The competition for the best Academy of Fine Arts design diploma works of 2018.

The competition is organized by the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. This year’s edition is the ninth review of the best master’s diploma works in design studies in Poland. The event is a showcase of the diploma works proposed as outstanding by the universities where they were defended last year. The achievements of graduates from the following institutions will be presented: the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, the University of Fine Arts in Poznań, the Academy of Art in Szczecin, the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. The exhibition accompanying the competition will be held at the Academy of Fine Arts Rondo Sztuki Gallery in Katowice.

The competition aims to promote young talents and support them in their work to establish independent positions on the professional design market. Therefore, we have invited people representing various professional backgrounds: academic, business, governmental institutions and the institutions of local government. Our hope is that this event will become a platform for the exchange of experience not only between academic centres, but also between other bodies. The competition is a wonderful opportunity to observe the latest trends in design and the way they are presented to the general public.

The main prize is the joint Award of the Rectors of the Academies of Fine Arts. In addition, other prizes will be also awarded: the prize of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, of the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, and of the Mayor of the City of Katowice. An additional honour is the participation of the awarded works in the Accompanying Exhibition as part of the Gdynia Design Days.
